In the first dedicated history of the Lockhart affair of 1918, Dr. Schneer chronicles the audacious yet doomed Western-backed plot to overthrow the then nascent Bolshevik regime and bring Russia back into the fight against the Central Powers. At once a portrait of the man at the heart of the conspiracy, R. H. Bruce Lockhart, and a work of political, diplomatic and intelligence history, Dr. Schneer's book was shortlisted for the 2021 Pushkin House Russian Book Prize.
Dr. Jonathan Schneer is Emeritus Professor at Georgia Tech’s School of History, Technology and Society, where he has taught since 1989. He is also the author of, most recently, The Lockhart Plot. Dr. Schneer was earlier an associate professor at Georgia State University and an assistant professor at Yale University. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from McGill University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
