While the Ukrainians are one of Europe’s oldest nations, the Ukrainian state has existed for just over 30 years as an independent entity, during which time it has endured war and revolution. Naturally, these pressures have had huge impacts on Ukraine’s political landscape. Andrew Wilson returns after his October 2019 talk to explore how Russia’s brutal invasion is reshaping Ukraine’s domestic politics and party system and what this means for Ukraine’s post-war future.

Andrew Wilson is Professor of Ukrainian Studies at University College London’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies and a senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. In addition to being one of the UK’s foremost experts on Ukraine, he is a specialist on democratisation in post-communist countries. His latest book is “The Ukrainians: The story of how a people became a nation.”
