Dear All,
You might be interested in a new play about Pytor llyich Tchaikovsky taking place on 13, 14th, 15th August at Opera Holland Park.
“The play is an extraordinary combination of Tchaikovsky's life and music: an entire theatre play (performed by 3 actors and a dancer) embedded within a full concert of Tchaikovsky's glorious music - the result being a dazzling fusion of drama and music that gives the fullest possible portrait of Tchaikovsky's life. It is deeply moving, and profoundly powerful.
But since Tchaikovsky also revolutionised ballet, we are also joined by Teo Dubreuil - a soloist from the Royal Ballet - who will be performing with us in the piece.
This means the play is really a heady combination of 3 theatrical artforms, all working together to tell this wonderful, funny, heartrending story.
The play was shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Society Storytelling award in 2021, and a Matilda award (in Australia) in 2015.
It is a huge play, with music curated and performed by the extraordinary Jayson Gillham, and there really is nothing else like it out there in the theatre. It is a thrilling evening in the theatre, in which one can feel Tchaikovsky's story coming to life as his music surges out to touch the heart.
This show we did last year at Opera Holland Park (about Beethoven) garnered incredible reviews, and is now going to America, Australia, Malta, and Flanders.
