The talk was in Russian, with slides in English, and was given by Professor Lilit Meliksetyan of the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan, speaking to us from Yerevan. The recording is approximately 90 minutes long.

In her illustrated talk Professor Lilit Meliksetyan gave us an overview of Armenian painting in the 19th and early 20th centuries and told us about the work of some of the most significant Armenian painters during this period such as the post-impressionists Martiros Saryan and Minas Avetisyan, to name but two.

Professor Lilit Meliksetyan is Head of The Department of Russian and World Literature and Culture at the Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan. Her field of expertise revolves around the history of art and literature. One of her research interests focuses on how Armenia and its culture feature in Russian literature.
